Description:

We are seeking an experienced Associate to join FOCUS in a broad capacity to support Government & Defense, Business Services and Supply Chain Industry Segments. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the deal process from origination to execution 
  • Create pitch books and prepare presentations for client meetings 
  • Compose Confidential Information Memorandum (CIM), working with banker and client teams in gathering, analyzing and presenting client information in various formats
  • Support the FOCUS deal team as required throughout the transaction process, including assistance with due diligence and data room management. 
  • Interact regularly with bankers, clients, and prospects
  • Perform pro-forma financial analysis; M&A transaction modeling; company valuation analysis
  • Complete market, industry and target diligence 

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of investment banking experience working with another boutique or large firm 
  • Internships in the above could help satisfy the requirements if skills are solid 
  • Ability to work independently, organize data, analyze financial statements and other financial data, and run multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Team project experience, strong communications skills and ability to adapt as team needs change; demonstrated strength in working on multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude 
  • Strong analytical capabilities – spreadsheet modeling, valuation analysis experience 
  • Experience developing confidential information memorandums and/or developing management presentations 
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills 
  • Experience with Capital IQ, other financial databases 
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to augment research and valuation 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field 
  • Ability to travel up to 15% 
  • Will be required to obtain licenses (SIE, 63, and 82/79) 

Preference for Chicagoland area applicants to be available to work with group leaders. However, open to fully remote applicants.
